Malaysia’s liberalised market and strong economy brings European opportunity

Webinar to outline to outline significant infrastructure market opportunities across Malaysia for European SMEs

Malaysia

The significant business opportunities for European small and medium sized businesses emerging across Malaysia will be discussed in special webinar next month organised by the EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce (EUMCCI).

The webinar will focus on “Raising the game for European small-and-medium sized professional service and technology providers in the Malaysian construction industry” and is intended to help businesses to take advantage of forecast market opportunities.

However, it will also outline the new opportunities in Malaysia following the recent liberalisation of the engineering, architectural and quantity surveying services sectors, allowing overseas businesses to register foreign professional staff and legally own their local subsidiaries.

“Raising the game for European small-and-medium sized professional service and technology providers in the Malaysian construction industry”

The webinar will be held on Tuesday 12th May 2015, from 5:00pm to 6.30pm Malaysian time (GMT + 8h).

Amendments to the Registration of Engineers Act are due to come into force in June this year and for the first time will allow professional or graduate engineers of any nationality to register with the Malaysian Board of Engineers and set up a local engineering consultancy business.

The change comes after several years of lobbying by UK businesses and efforts by the ACE’s International Business Group (IBG) to help firms to take advantage of the growing opportunities in the Malaysian infrastructure market.

Malaysia as a gateway to ASEAN has been a hot spot for government funded large-scale infrastructure projects as well as private sector residential and commercial developments for many years.

Despite the recent downtrend in oil prices, tight fiscal budget measures and the recent implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the construction industry is forecast to experience further strong growth.

This webinar will presents the current industry scenario, current regulatory environment and market opportunities as well as explores how EU SMEs can successfully enter the rapidly transforming Malaysian professional services market and will conclude with a question and answer session.

The webinar will be held on Tuesday 12th May 2015, from 5:00pm to 6.30pm Malaysian time (GMT + 8h).
