Engineers Jacobs and Ingerop-Rendel named as HS2 design partners

HS2 consortium Align has named engineers Jacobs and Ingerop-Rendel as their design partners for phase one bidding.

Align, consisting of Bouygues Travaux Publics, Sir Robert McAlpine and VolkerFitzpatrick, have been shortlisted for four of the major design and build civils projects and the central section enabling works.

Jacobs senior vice president buildings and infrastructure, Bob Duff, said: "Jacobs’ global high speed rail experience allows us to bring innovation and expertise from High Speed 1, the Netherlands, the USA, Hong Kong, South Africa and Malaysia to the consortium. We look forward to collaborating with Align.”

Jerome Furge, director of Align, said: “We welcome Jacobs and Ingerop-Rendel to our consortium as hugely reputable engineering consultancies with international experience in high speed rail design and also an excellent track record with major projects in the UK”.

Jacobs will supply engineering design services, including tunnelling, earthworks, structures, highways and viaducts. Align will benefit from Ingerop’s French high speed rail experience together with Rendel’s UK civil engineering expertise.

Jacobs recently won the design contract for the California High Speed Rail and provided technical consultancy for the Singapore to Kuala Lumpur High Speed Rail Project. In the UK, Jacobs has worked extensively on all aspects of HS1 in consultancy, design and representative roles since 1985 and continues to support its asset management programme.

Ingerop, a leading consultancy in France and internationally, has extensive experience on high speed rail projects, including as lead designer for the High Speed Line Bretagne-Pays de Loire in France, which is due to open in 2017.
