Mott MacDonald appointed on Greater Cambridge City Deal framework

Mott MacDonald has been appointed by Cambridgeshire County Council on a framework agreement to provide multidisciplinary services for a number of Greater Cambridge City Deal (GCCD) schemes.

The GCCD is the latest government devolution deal announced last month to support and escalate economic growth in the region. It is based on a partnership of local authorities, Cambridge University and the Local Enterprise Partnership and is focused around three tranches of government funding totalling £500m . This funding will be matched by other contributors, bringing the total to £1bn of investment over 20 years.

The framework will deliver a number of major transport projects in the region. These include bus improvement schemes between Cambourne and Cambridge, the Western Orbital project and improvement works along the A1307 towards Haverhill.

Mott MacDonald will provide transport planning, business case development and structural, landscape and building design services on the framework. The consultancy will also deliver environmental and economic regeneration assessments when necessary.

Paresh Shingadia, Mott MacDonald’s project director, said: “This framework appointment builds on the existing successful partnership between ourselves and Cambridgeshire County Council which has been developed on a range of key GCCD proposals over the last three years.”

The framework will run for four years, with the option to extend for a further three years.
