Arcadis reappointed to Civil Aviation Authority framework

The UK’s Civil Aviation Authority has reappointed Arcadis to its economic consultancy services framework for an additional four years.

The UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has reappointed Arcadis to its economic consultancy services framework for an additional four years.

The CAA is the economic regulator of London Heathrow Airport, London Gatwick and NATS (formerly National Air Traffic Services). The CAA also has concurrent powers with the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to enforce the prohibitions in the Competition Act as they relate to airport operation services and the supply of air traffic services.

Arcadis will continue to provide technical assurance that includes key aviation competencies such as project and programme services, design and airport planning. The company has also been successful in being appointed to new areas such as business case review and economic regulatory advisory.

Previous focus was on additional runway capacity at Heathrow (R3) and whether it represents the interest of passengers. It is expected that the initial focus under the reappointment will be on helping Heathrow regrow in a sustainable manner that balances a range of stakeholder interests as aviation emerges into a post-Covid world.

Jason Buckland, account lead at Arcadis said: “The CAA is a key aviation client and we are delighted that we have been reappointed onto its expanded framework. The variety of the commissions are significant and involve effort from all in the aviation sector and beyond. Intellectually challenging, our insight ultimately helps inform the CAA of the user charge that the airport may levy the airlines to use the airport.”
