Deltek acquires Union Square

In a move reflecting the increased need for collaboration on large-scale projects, Deltek has acquired the information management software firm Union Square.

ACE affiliate Deltek services around 12,000 firms engaged in the architecture, engineering and construction sectors. The trend towards project collaborations between companies has changed not just the way the industry functions but also the client needs Deltek needs to address.

With the integration of BIM use, as well as client preferences for skilled collaboration, industry project management is now increasingly facilitating the sharing of highly sensitive project information covering not just contacts but also key drawings and structural documents. With the competitive as well as physical security need for such plans to be properly controlled, many businesses currently struggle with managing the various forms of collaboration.

Union Square software, based in Nottingham, specialises in providing information and collaboration management solutions for businesses working in the built environment. Their software package is used by more than 450 firms in 15 countries, renowned for their availability of a central repository where all project information can be securely stored.

Mike Corkery, president and CEO of Deltek, said: “Managing data and collaborating on information to make smart decisions is critical for successful companies, especially in the architecture, engineering and construction industry. We acquired Union Square to meet the acute needs of architecture, engineering and construction firms to organise the many emails, documents, drawings and other artefacts that are produced in the course of successfully delivering a project.”

According to Deltek, the strength of both systems combined together will allow project management to include both the records of activities and transactions but also facilitate secure collaboration on project sensitive information and unique content.
