Stantec appoints two new operational directors

Stantec has appointed Maire Lenihan and Mark Tindale, both pictured here, as new operational directors for its UK & Ireland Water business.

Stantec has announced two new senior appointments, with Mark Tindale and Maire Lenihan joining the UK & Ireland Water business as operational directors.

In their new roles, both Lenihan and Tindale will be responsible for overall business performance and securing new opportunities in their respective regions. Tindale will work with Stantec’s team in the south to drive forward growth in the Midlands whilst Lenihan will focus on opportunities in the north, which will include delivering current and future major programmes of work with water sector clients.

Tindale joins Stantec from Arup where he spent 22 years gaining a wealth of international experience in the water industry. During this time, he spent several years overseas, completing aid work in Afghanistan and leading the water sector in Southern Africa. After returning to the UK, he led water activities in the Midlands region, substantially growing the business and delivering strategic advisory work for Ofwat and major utilities such as Thames Water, Severn Trent and South Staffs.

In 2017, Lenihan joined the Stantec team in New Zealand where she was responsible for developing long term multi-sector client partnerships in the South Island, and project managing infrastructure projects throughout the region covering water and wastewater, master planning and solid waste. In 2019, she moved to Dublin with Stantec where she took on the role of client services manager with responsibility for operations across Ireland. She has gained a wealth of experience over 18 years in the water industry working in collaboration with clients and communities across the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and the US.

Commenting on his appointment, Tindale said: “I am excited about this new chapter of my career and the adventure ahead of me. I am looking forward to maximising the creativity of the company to bring benefits to our clients, communities, and the environment. Remote-working, carbon zero, autonomous vehicles, digital innovation, these are just a few of the things changing the way we move and work and impact where we choose to live and our utility demands. Stantec is making exciting advancements, and I wanted to be involved. I’m looking forward to bringing this insight to my strategic advisory work with clients.”

Commenting on her new role, Lenihan said: “Having worked on transformation water projects for Stantec clients across New Zealand and Ireland I am delighted to join the Northeast team where I will be working with water businesses in the north to provide innovative, sustainable and cost-effective solutions to their water resource and wastewater challenges for the benefit of our communities.”

Scott Jackson, regional director for the UK & Ireland Water business said: “We’re excited to welcome Mark and Máire to our operations leadership team. They both bring a wealth of experience which will benefit our water clients as they advance their water and wastewater programmes through AMP7 and beyond.”
