Support needed for RedR Christmas appeal

International capacity-building NGO RedR UK is appealing to construction and infrastructure organisations to support its annual Christmas appeal, which is raising cash to help aid workers to save and rebuild more lives after disasters.

With Christmas and New Year just around the corner, time is a commodity that displaced populations can ill afford. Hungry, without shelter and desperately in need of life’s most basic necessities, millions of displaced people around the world require immediate humanitarian aid and assistance. It's difficult to imagine spending Christmas without so much as a roof over your head, but for many, it is a reality.

RedR UK provides training and technical support to NGOs, aid workers and communities responding to natural and man-made disasters all over the world. Their expert support ensures that those responding to humanitarian crises - whether or not they are professional aid workers - have the skills to do so safely and effectively.

There are currently 84 million displaced people worldwide, of which 42% are children. Only 126,000 displaced people were able to return to their home country in 2021 so the need for assistance is clear. So far, RedR UK’s Christmas appeal has raised £4,161 but they still have a long way to go to reach their £10,000 target.

Whatever you can afford to give this Christmas, RedR UK is immensely grateful for your support. Your donation will help RedR train aid workers delivering life-saving aid for vulnerable and suffering populations.

“Migration and human mobility is a response to oppression in the search for freedom and a better quality of life. It is an inalienable right that should be guaranteed to everyone,” said Diana Montoya, an aid worker in Venezuela. UK engineer and aid worker Noor Kuchai said: “It’s such an important job - you’re basically saving lives. Your day-to-day tasks have a direct impact on people who have already suffered a lot. They’ve lost their houses, their loved ones, they’ve gone through trauma and you’re there to help them.”

There is still time to help RedR UK reach their £10,000 appeal target. Donating is an act of compassion and one which will help alleviate the suffering of individuals, families and communities all over the world.
