AECOM appointed lead designer for HS2 bid work

Fusion JV, the joint venture between Morgan Sindall, Ferrovial Agroman and BAM Nuttall currently bidding to win HS2 civils works contracts worth £900m, has appointed AECOM as its lead designer for phase one activity.

If the joint venture is successful in bidding for one of three work packages, AECOM will be able to draw on its wide experience of delivering high speed rail projects globally, including a key role in Spain’s high speed rail network, Crossrail, and other schemes in more than 20 countries.

AECOM engineering director Dr. Mark Raiss said: “This is an opportunity for AECOM to bring its global high speed rail capability to a landmark UK project of national importance, working with Fusion to support HS2’s vision of making the project a catalyst for growth across Britain. Our work with Fusion builds on the long-standing collaborative relationships that we have with all three JV partners.”

Fusion, which comprises three of Europe’s leading infrastructure companies, Morgan Sindall, BAM, and Ferrovial, was formed primarily to bid for contracts on the HS2 rail scheme including enabling works, surface route, viaducts, and tunnels. As well as the work on HS2, the joint venture is also aiming to win work on other pioneering infrastructure programmes.
