Civil engineer Andy Milner to take the helm at Amey as new CEO

Civil engineer Andy Milner is to take over as the new chief executive at Amey when current CEO Mel Ewell retires at the end of March.

Milner, currently managing director of Amey’s consulting and strategic infrastructure division, joined Amey in 2006 following the acquisition of Owen Williams. Since being appointed managing director of the company’s consulting division in 2008, he has overseen the growth of the business to be one of the leading engineering and technical consultancies in the UK, as well as expanding Amey into three further continents, with contracts in Australia, Qatar and the United States.

Speaking about his appointment as CEO, Milner said: “I am delighted to be CEO of this outstanding company, and wish to thank Mel Ewell for the leadership and guidance he has given to me over the last decade. I am inheriting a strong, profitable business that is extremely well placed to help our customers at a time of change in our markets.”

Santiago Olivares, CEO of Amey’s owners Ferrovial Services said: “Andy’s appointment as CEO of Amey reflects the proven track record of success he has had as a key member of the both the Amey and Ferrovial Services executive boards as well as the unparalleled growth and success he has delivered for Amey’s consulting and strategic infrastructure division.”

Speaking about his decision to retire, Mel Ewell said: “Deciding when to retire is a difficult decision, particularly when you’re enjoying what you’re doing and working at a fantastic company which has become such a big part of your life. That being said I am confident that this is the right thing for me and the business.”
