WYG appoints ex-BBC director to risk and security team

Professional services firm WYG has appointed Simon Marr as divisional director to lead its risk and security consultancy business. Marr joins WYG from the BBC where he was director of safety, security and resilience.

At WYG, Marr will further develop the firm’s risk and security consultancy which helps organisations manage political, economic, and security risks in complex and hostile environments. His role will focus on FTSE 100 clients, existing HM government customers, and the broader security, justice and defence sectors.

Marr previously led the BBC high risk team in the development and implementation of high-risk security and safety policies that enabled BBC employees to keep safe when working in challenging and dangerous environments. He also has a 28-year service record as a British Army officer and also worked in the Ministry of Defence, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and the Cabinet Office on security and stabilisation policy issues.

Clive Anderson, managing director at WYG, said: “Simon has an impressive track record in security and stabilisation policy issues and will be a welcome addition to the team. We are delighted that he has joined the business to help further develop our specialist global risk consultancy that helps organisations succeed in a volatile world."
