Morgan Sindall opens new office in Newcastle

Darren Wellington, James Garnett and Alex Isted in Morgan Sindall's new office base in Newcastle.

Morgan Sindall Construction have set up a new office at Rotterdam House on Newcastle's Quayside and announced two key appointments to its regional team.

The new base, headed up by Alex Isted, who was announced last year as the new regional director for the north-east, has been specifically chosen to enhance Morgan Sindall’s operations and ensure optimum delivery for projects throughout the north-east and Cumbria.

The move will create over 25 jobs – both office and site-based – to support the north-east team's growing pipeline of projects, with several to be announced in the coming months.

As part of its north-east expansion, Morgan Sindall has also appointed Darren Wellington as senior pre-construction manager for the region.

Wellington brings more than thirty years' experience to his role, having previously worked at Laing O’Rourke and VINCI.

Isted said: “Since my appointment there’s been a real sense of anticipation about opening our new Newcastle office.

“I’m thrilled that we’ve now opened the doors and also welcomed Darren to the team.

“Our leadership team will be completed upon arrival of an area commercial manager in March.”

He added Rotterdam House is a “fantastic location” from which the team will look forward to continue collaborating with a range of organisations, to deliver “greener, more intelligent developments that enhance the wellbeing of communities across the north-east and Cumbria”.

The organisations the team work with include local authorities, framework partners, developers and other stakeholders.

Wellington added: "I’m delighted to join Morgan Sindall and look forward to working as part of the leadership team as we grow our presence across the north-east and Cumbria.”

James Garnett, who has delivered a variety of exciting schemes for Morgan Sindall, has also been appointed as operations director, responsible for delivery excellence across all live projects.

The Rotterdam House site will operate according to Morgan Sindall’s Intelligent Solutions principles, which bring together digital and platform design capabilities with modern construction methods and innovative carbon reduction tools to create unique, sustainable, and inspiring places for its customers.
