Wow! What a year! Infrastructure Intelligence celebrates its first birthday

Infrastruture Intelligence: owned by the industry; acting on behalf of the industry. Twelve months delivering the intelligence behind the success in infrastructure, says Antony Oliver.

Twelve months ago Infrastructure Intelligence was just an idea.

It was an idea to create a new, digitally focused, independent information resource for professionals in the growing infrastructure design, delivery and operation sector of the built environment.

Our goal was to deliver quality information to help the infrastructure supply chain tackle business more effectively and to create a communication tool that enabled the whole community to reap greater reward from the growing business opportunities in the sector.

Twelve months on Infrastructure Intelligence has journeyed relentlessly from that idea to become well and truly established as a brand and a voice for the infrastructure community.

It has been a year of learning for all. Not least in establishing the reality that "infrastructure" as a term encompasses both social and economic infrastructure. Establishing that to build lives, businesses or economies investment in all forms of infrastructure are equally critical.

And I am pleased to say that we have now an influential and growing audience from across the supply chain that gets this, and audience that includes consultancy, contracting, product and technology suppliers, professional services and, of course, clients, politicians and industry advisors.

And with decent modern infrastructure rooted firmly at the heart of stated pre-election ambitions for economic growth across by all major political parties in the UK - a position mirrored (or envied) almost universally by government’s around the world - the prospect for further growth are positive and very exciting.

At the heart of efforts over the last year has been our unashamedly forward looking editorial stance.  While delivering the latest news is interesting, understanding how it can drive business forward remains more useful. It is, after all, what you told us was needed.

"We will continue to listen to you our readers and react to your needs, providing quality intelligence to help you build your own businesses - whether they are big or small - and deliver greater services to your clients."

Input from experienced journalists plus some of the most influential thinkers and experienced practitioners in the business has helped us to consistently deliver headturning analysis and comment plus the insight that feeds ideas and change across infrastructure planning, design, management and maintenance. And as a hub for the profession all views have been welcomed.

It is just the start. Building from this first year foundation we intend to grow the brand, delivering quality editorial both digitally and on page via out monthly digital and paper issues. We will continue to engage the most influential thinkers in the business and develop our portfolio of focused live events to bring the industry together.

Above all we will continue to listen to you our readers and react to your needs, providing quality intelligence to help you build your own businesses - whether they are big or small - and deliver greater services to your clients.

We stand firm behind the original vision: owned by the industry; acting on behalf of the industry. Delivering the intelligence that is critical to success in infrastructure. Bring on year number two!
