Atkins appoints Lizi Stewart as managing director for transportation

Lizi Stewart, the new managing director of Atkins' transport division in the UK and Europe.

Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, has appointed Lizi Stewart as managing director of its transportation division in the UK and Europe.

Stewart joins Atkins from Arcadis, where she was the managing director of highways and aviation. A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Stewart has held a number of senior roles in the transportation, retail, financial services and property sectors, working with clients across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

In her new role, she will be responsible for driving further growth in the rail, highways and local transport markets, where Atkins has a strong base. As well as overseeing the delivery of existing major transportation contracts, Stewart will look to increase the company’s project portfolio and client base across the UK.

Philip Hoare, chief executive for SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business in the UK and Europe, said: “Lizi will lead our efforts as we focus on collaborating with clients in new and exciting ways by combining traditional engineering expertise with new technologies and agile, creative thinking. With the UK continuing to invest heavily in critical infrastructure, we’re well placed to capitalise on emerging opportunities as we look to help our clients shape the future of transportation.”

Stewart starts her new role on 1 February and will be based at Nova North, SNC-Lavalin’s new European HQ in London.
