Career path: Nic Raffel, Hydrock. Choosing a Year in Industry placement

In this short film, Year in Industry student, Nic Raffel lists his top three pieces of advice to fellow students when choosing the right company to join.

Nic is originally from London but now works with Hydrock in Manchester. He plans to read civil engieering at Bristol University next year on a 4 year course which includes a Masters Degree and the opportunity to work in Europe.

He found his placement at Hydrock throught the Year in Industry scheme and summarises his top tips for others wishes to do likewise as: 

• Research the company you apply to
• Decide if the location is somewhere you want to work for a year
• Choose a company who will treat you as part of the team, and not a work experience student
