Double win for WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff with Highways England framework contracts

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff in Birmingham has secured appointments to two key frameworks by Highways England – one to provide specialist technical services and research (Lot 1), and the other to deliver commercial and costs advice (Lot 2)  – following the Highways England Specialist Professional and Technical Services (SPaTS) framework tender.

The firm will work on the SPaTS framework for four years, building on its ten-year association with Highways England.

The technical services and research framework (Lot 1) covers specialist advice on a wide range of topic areas including technical assurance, highways and bridges, geotechnical, technology and environmental research – as well as standards and guidance, user surveys, cycling and sustainable travel and safety and commercial risk evaluation.

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff framework director for Lot 1 Steve Denton said: “The dedication of the team that worked on the bid was truly exemplary, and we are looking forward to utilising our combined expertise to capitalise on the opportunities that lie ahead for us as part of this framework”.

The Lot 2 framework covers the provision of commercial management, performance and cost engineering services across all Highways England activities and will help it secure essential commercial assurance support for the £11bn of capital investment in its Roads Improvement Strategy, announced in December 2014.

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff framework director for Lot 2 Steve Jackson said: “These key appointments for Highways England allow us to both demonstrate the knowledge and expertise of our specialists and provide them with the opportunity to work at the industry’s cutting edge.”
