French energy giant EDF buys M&E contractor Imtech

French energy mega-firm EDF has bought the £400m turnover, 2,100-staff M&E contractor Imtech UK and Ireland to further expand its business services in the UK.

Imtech is a leading engineering services company and provider of technical services to construction, industrial, commercial and public sector clients in the UK and Ireland. 

Imtech will be taken over by EDF Energy Services, a joint venture between EDF Energy and the EDF Group’s Dalkia district heating division. EDF say the existing Imtech management team will continue to lead the 2,100 staff business, delivering mechanical and electrical engineering services, as well as management of facilities and the integration of digital control solutions.

The combined expertise of EDF Energy, Dalkia and Imtech UK and Ireland will enable the company to apply the latest technologies and offer innovative services that deliver improved energy efficiencies at every stage in the life of industrial and commercial facilities - from initial design and build, operation and maintenance through to control of energy.
