Opus makes key asset management appointment

Global infrastructure company Opus International Consultants (Opus) has appointed Dr Ray Hickey as principal asset manager to lead growth in the transport, buildings and water sectors.  

Hickey has over 16 years’ experience in whole of life asset management and structures and has held senior positions working for a number of leading UK infrastructure clients.

He helped to develop the current version of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy toolkit issued to all local authorities by the Department of Transport to enable cost efficient life cycle planning and accurate financial reporting. Hickey was also instrumental in developing asset management tools for High Speed 2 and Highways England, creating effective software to manage asset management challenges. 

As a chartered engineer with a doctorate in computational modelling, Hickey is seen as a significant addition to Opus’ ranks says Steve Draper, Opus’ technical director for asset management, UK. 

“We are delighted to welcome Ray on board. He brings a wealth of experience and a long track record in innovation. We are looking forward to learning from all his experiences and seeing him in action as he contributes to innovative new technologies within the whole of life asset management sphere,” said Draper.

Hickey will focus on delivering asset management services for Opus clients and creating new opportunities to take the business to its next level of development, particularly in the local authority market. He will work with Opus’ behavioural scientists to ensure that their infrastructure solutions meet the needs of the company’s clients and local communities.
