Book now for Friday webinar on making the industry resilient

This Friday's Infrastructure Intelligence webinar will explore how the construction and infrastructure sector - and the firms that work within it - can build resilience in the face of future crises.

Covid-19 has shown how susceptible businesses are to global pandemics, with crisis plans having to be adapted as construction businesses have reacted to lockdown restrictions and changed working patterns.

Firms across the construction sector have had to adapt at short notice as thousands of staff were forced to work from home - and some were laid off altogether. Financial pressures have been extreme as companies have had to find ways of maintaining their cashflow in an economy that has all but ground to a halt.

This third webinar in the Infrastructure Intelligence ‘Coming out of Covid’ series will explore how the industry needs to learn from its experience during the Covid-19 crisis. Should designs, operations and infrastructure be better structured in the future to avoid total lockdown? And crucially, how can the industry become more resilient and better able to deal with future crises?

We've assembled an excellent line up of speakers for the event. One of those speakers, Phil Wilbraham, expansion programme director at Heathrow, said: "Covid-19 is an opportunity to rethink infrastructure outcomes as well as realising the opportunities of the construction/manufacturing eco-system". Fellow panellist at Friday's webinar, Juliet Mian, technical director at The Resilience Shift, said: "If we come out of this particular crisis only thinking about our resilience to pandemics, we have not learnt much, because we need to prepare for the unknown as well as the known". Another panellist, Ramboll UK managing director Mathew Riley, said: "I am genuinely optimistic that our industry will use this crisis as change for good, however, how many of us will still be around to influence that change?”

Food for thought from all our speakers so, make sure that you and your organisation are better prepared for the next time by signing up for this free webinar.
