Gleeds named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces

Kate Williams, Gleeds UK people director.

Gleeds has officially been named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces (2023) by Great Place to Work, the global authority on workplace culture.

The international property and construction consultancy’s commitment to its fairness, inclusion and respect strategy is one of the reasons why Gleeds ranked so highly, placing 28th in the Super-Large category.

Only those businesses who achieve the highest scores after evaluation receive Best Workplaces status.

Kate Williams, Gleeds UK people director, said: “Our survey results were overwhelmingly positive - showing that 90% of our people feel colleagues care about one another, that the business is committed to ensuring everyone is treated fairly, inclusively, and respectfully, and that everyone can be themselves at work. These are just a few of the aspects of our culture that make Gleeds one of the UK’s Best Workplaces.”

Gleeds CEO Graham Harle added: “Our people are our most important asset, so I am thrilled that the effort we devote to improving their experience is continuing to pay dividends. It is rewarding to know that we’re creating a workplace where people’s wellbeing is paramount, where they are made to feel welcome when they join us, and where they feel valued throughout their careers here.”

Great Place to Work performed rigorous evaluations of hundreds of employee survey responses alongside Culture Audit submissions from leaders at each company to create the 2023 UK's Best Workplaces list. They then used these data insights to benchmark the effectiveness of companies' employee value propositions against the culture their employees actual experience.

The results of Gleeds’ survey revealed that nine out of ten respondents were made to feel welcome when joining Gleeds, while over 90% agree that the business is committed to treating everyone fairly, inclusively, and respectfully. As a result, 87% feel they can be themselves at work and four out of five would consider it a truly Great Place to Work.

“As the global authority on workplace culture, our mission at Great Place to Work has always been to build a better world by helping organisations become a great place to work for all,” said Benedict Gautrey, managing director of Great Place to Work UK.

“We strongly believe in the notion of ‘better for business, better for people, better for the world’.

“Best Workplaces consistently put people first – not just in terms of looking out for their own employees but also by caring for and supporting their surrounding community and environment. We’re incredibly proud to recognise the very best ‘For All’ organisations committed to equity and unfaltering in ensuring that all employees are empowered to deliver the right strategic solutions to ever-changing business opportunities and challenges.”
