AECOM have appointed Giles Price to its newly created role of chief technical officer for its EMEA region.

AECOM has appointed Giles Price as its new chief technical officer for its EMEA region, with the newly created role focussing on expanding business growth, enhancing technical excellence, quality and encouraging technical development for AECOM staff.

Trained as an engineer, Price has previously worked on the development, delivery, operation and maintenance of major critical infrastructure, including high-profile investment programmes such as Heathrow’s Terminals 2 and 5 as well as the third runway project.

Prior to his new appointment, he was technical and quality director at British Airport Authority (BAA) where his key responsibility was to ensure BAA had the relevant knowledge, intelligence and experience to operate six UK airports. In addition to this, as part of his role with BAA, he worked alongside the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and London 2012 Olympics to support the relevant infrastructure and transport needs.

Colin Wood, chief capability officer, AECOM, EMEA, said: “Investing in the well-being of our staff and ensuring their continuing professional development is key to business growth. This new role will not only allow AECOM to build a legacy across Europe, Middle East and Africa but encourage our staff to be part of it. Giles brings a breadth of experience to this new role and we are excited to have him on board.”

Looking forward to his new role, Price said: “Working for a global organisation such as AECOM unlocks several opportunities for people across the business. This is an exciting time to be joining and I look forward to working with the team, ensuring development is at the core of all decision making.”
