Wolseley Group completes John O’Groats to Land’s End walk for Dementia UK

Wolseley staff tackle their charity walk

Wolseley Group has raised more than £18,000 for Dementia UK following a 889.2 mile walk from John O’Groats to Land’s End

Infrastructure businesses Burdens and Fusion Utilities, part of Wolseley Group, raised the funds after embarking on the charity challenge.

The fundraising walk, which began on August 31, saw colleagues from across Wolseley undertake multiple legs of the walk, spanning the entire length of the UK and covered more than 889.2 miles in four weeks.

Dementia UK was named Wolseley’s charity of the year following a company-wide vote, with the recent fundraising efforts supporting the charity’s vital work to improve the quality of life of those with dementia and their families.

Neal Lambert, technical director at Fusion Utilities, said: “Dementia UK is a charity that is close to the hearts of many of us here at Wolseley, and we’re so proud of what the team has achieved. It was certainly a challenging experience, but undoubtedly worth it to support such an important cause.”

The walk was Wolseley’s largest-ever business-wide charity endeavour attempted.

Lambert added: “This is just the beginning, as we plan many more fundraising activities to continue supporting Dementia UK to reach our fundraising target of £500k. Watch this space!”
