Highways England seeking two senior roles

Highways England is seeking to fill two key roles in their Major Projects Directorate. A programme leader/sponsor role, located in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Bedford and Guildford, will take full ownership and responsibility in setting up programmes or projects to meet its objectives and deliver the projected benefits within Highways England’s Regional Investment Programme.

The organisation is also looking for a senior project manager, based in Birmingham, to be responsible for delivering a large/complex project or a portfolio of projects. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction and overview for projects on a day-to-day basis, successfully challenging approach to delivery to drive innovative solutions and savings in both time and cost. The postholder will also lead and manage the project team in a matrix environment.

Highways England (HE) is the new government company charged with driving forward motorways and major A roads in England. Building on the successful 21 year heritage of the Highways Agency, HE maintain and enhance the most important communications network in the country, the Strategic Roads Network. The network is valued at just over £104bn, which carries approximately one-third of all road traffic in England and nearly two-thirds of all heavy freight traffic.
