FRIDAY WEBINAR: Book now for "Delivering a green recovery" event

Our Infrastructure Intelligence Live series of events continues on Friday 9 October 2020 with a webinar on sustainability and delivering a green recovery. The issue of the environment and net zero is high profile in the news currently, so this webinar is very topical.

As ever, we have assembled an interesting line-up of panellists, including the CEO of green energy supplier, Octopus Energy for Business, Mott MacDonald's UK head of sustainability and climate change, a senior vice president at Jacobs, the good growth lead at the Gtreater London Authority, a partner at a leading firm of environmental lawyers and the director of infrastructure and energy at a communications consultancy specialising in the construction sector.

With the government’s key priority of jumpstarting of the UK economy, environmentalists fear that politicians will approve and possibly subsidise any economic activity, regardless of how many tonnes of CO2 are pumped into the atmosphere. But is this fear justified? The prime minister and chancellor have been careful to point out the need for sustainable projects and, at least in words, the message of the importance of the environment and commitment to net zero appears to be getting through.

The Covid-19 pandemic has shown us that society can live differently and that net-zero can be achieved provided that we work together towards that common goal. However, to deliver on the government’s ambition for a green, sustainable recovery, the industry must also take a serious look at its approach to value, including, crucially, how it is defined. The construction sector’s historic affinity with cheapness, must give way to a much broader understanding of value, one rooted in delivering better social, economic and environmental outcomes. This webinar on Friday 9 October 2020 will discuss these issues and more.

A green stimulus programme that creates more sustainable cities, investing in active transport and building the infrastructure for a better world is certainly within our grasp and a green recovery is possible, but it will take political will. So, how do we keep the key issue of sustainability at the forefront of politicians’ minds to ensure this green recovery?

Find out about how we ensure that the recovery will be a green and sustainable one by attending this very topical webinar, which is organised in association with our strategic partner, BECG.
