Edinburgh tech company to support construction road safety scheme

A "thriving" technology company has become a delivery partner of the Construction Logistics and Community Safety Scheme (CLOCS) a national standard that requires all stakeholders in construction to take responsibility for health and safety beyond the building site and take ownership of work-related road risks. 

Edinburgh-based Podfather, which specialises in the development, delivery and support, of software solutions that help companies plan and manage their vehicle fleets more efficiently, is set to provide valuable input and support to construction companies in their drive to deliver safer, leaner and greener construction logistics.

The award-winning developer of logistics planning, route optimisation and ePOD software, is already a trusted partner of well-known brands within the construction sector, including Breedon and Tarmac, and will use this experience to share best practice with other companies within the scheme. 

It comes as over 5,500 vulnerable road users are killed or injured every year in collisions on Britain’s roads with vehicles commonplace in construction – that’s 20 people every working day. 

CLOCS is a national Standard that requires all stakeholders in construction to take responsibility for health & safety beyond the hoardings. 

It demands collaborative action to prevent fatal or serious collisions between vehicles servicing construction projects and vulnerable road users including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.
