Atkins’ Graham Bolton takes up chair of British Aviation Group

Graham Bolton, Atkins’ aviation market director, has been announced as the new chairman of the British Aviation Group, the leading representative body for UK companies involved in the airport and aviation development sector.

As chairman, Bolton will promote the capability of, and seek opportunities for the UK aviation supply chain, working closely with Department for International Trade, UK airports and other industry representative bodies.

Commenting on his appointment, Bolton said: “This is a critical time for the British aviation sector and an exciting time for me to take on this role. The UK government will be making a decision in the next few weeks on how to increase airport capacity in the south east. UK connectivity to a wider range of countries is vital for our future and the need is now. Our focus and effort going forward must be on working together to deliver the extra capacity quickly, considerately and with minimum disruption.”

With nearly 25 years’ experience, Bolton has worked on major airport development projects across the world, including Dubai, Heathrow, Istanbul, Hong Kong, Seattle and Melbourne, and was previously deputy chair of the British Aviation Group.

More than three billion people and 50 million tons of cargo fly across the globe in an average year. Atkins has wide experience working in the sector over the last 50 years, working on the development of facilities, infrastructure and systems for many of the world’s largest and most successful airports and with leading airlines.

As chair of the British Aviation Group, Bolton is set to play an influential role in the sector over the coming months.
