Turner & Townsend appoints new director in China

Turner & Townsend has appointed Tino Chang to the role of director for the technology and manufacturing sectors and business generation in China.

Chang has more than 18 years’ experience in the professional consultancy and construction industry, having spent the past 13 years working in China. Most recently, he led the business development operation for YZJ Group, a Chinese company covering the pharmaceutical, property development and construction sectors. Prior to this, he spent 10 years leading Turner & Townsend’s cost management team in Shanghai.

Despite facing an economic slowdown in recent years, China is still one of the strongest performing economies in the world and Turner & Townsend currently has six offices across the country. The company hopes that Chang’s knowledge of the Chinese construction market and extensive business network will enable Turner & Townsend to explore new business opportunities in China, especially in the technology and manufacturing sectors.

Nick Townsend, managing director for Turner and Townsend North East Asia, said: “Tino’s impressive contribution to some major projects in China, such as the Disney theme park and flagship store in Shanghai, Porsche Automotive and Swire Cold Chain Logistics distribution centre, along with his ten years of cost management experience at Turner & Townsend prior to this, means he’s ideal for this role.

“Despite the challenges facing the Chinese economy, we see clients turning to us more and more as they need tighter control of their capital projects. As a result of this our client base is expanding and our team growing. Tino’s expertise will allow us to explore further opportunities to support clients across the hi-tech and manufacturing sectors.”

Commenting on his appointment, Tino Chang said: “I am truly delighted to be returning to Turner & Townsend, a company with over 4,000 employees worldwide and an impeccable reputation. I am confident that I can successfully support the team in China, identifying new business development opportunities and helping foster sustainable growth in the region.”
