About the role

BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Engineer based in London.

What you will be doing 

The team has projects in the leisure, education, residential, commercial, health and retail sectors. This work has clients ranging from local and national developers and contractors to major private sector companies. This expanding team will encourage career progression for the right person. While our experience in depth and breadth, fosters a culture of professionalism with flair.

Your immediate and vital contribution will be to help this ambitious and expanding team continue to exceed the expectations of clients and in so doing consolidate and improve the position of BWB in the London construction community.

You should be comfortable working on challenging and multiple projects simultaneously. You will be able to undertake the design of structures with commonly used design software within a fast-paced, professional environment. You will be comfortable mentoring junior members of staff to aid their professional development.

You must have experience in all commonly used structural materials and be able to draw on this experience to produce commercially aware design solutions which enhance our reputation with developers and contractors as innovative engineers with a sound commercial footing.

Proven design of lightweight structures, long span roofs and façade systems is also required.

Chartered Engineer status is required, preferably I. Struct.E

Requirements 

About you

With strong IT skills and a practical approach, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to lead a team, manage complex workloads, technicians and junior staff to achieve commercial viability of projects.

They will demonstrate strong communication and personal effectiveness skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels internally and particularly with external design team members and clients.

We recognise that, with such expectations and challenges, individuals selected must be of the highest calibre. Whilst chartered status is desired, it is not essential. Skills and attributes such as problem-solving, communication, personal organisation, team-working skills and the ability to work under pressure are also highly prized.
