The Role

Due to successful and continued growth the Buildings & Built Environment Group have a vacancy for a Senior Structural Engineer in our Birmingham Office.

Working as part of an ambitious growing team in the West Midlands you will provide hands on structural engineering for projects ranging from £2Million - £90Million.

 About you

  • You will be technically excellent and able to interact and communicate effectively with external and internal design teams.
  • You will be responsible for the production of Structural Engineering calculations and designs on a range of projects across a multitude of sectors working closely with other members of the BWB group
  • You should uphold the core values of our business and act as a role model for the team and the West Midlands region.
  • You should have a desire to continually improve our service to our clients and the efficiency of the Birmingham team.

 Technical Knowledge

  • A well rounded individual ideally chartered but not essential. 
  • You should possess a broad range of engineering skills and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of current codes of practice both British Standards and Eurocodes working in all the main construction materials.
  • You should be able to demonstrate the ability to use the latest 3D finite element modelling design software packages in both concrete and steelwork such as CSC Building Designer, RAM Structural system, Robot etc and also be comfortable undertaking hand calculations or spreadsheets where required. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential as is the ability to produce clear, practical and economic design sketches that can be passed to engineers, graduate engineers and Structural Technicians.

An appreciation of REVIT modelling software and working in a BIM environment is also desirable.
