Transport infrastructure to take centre stage at UKREiiF 2024

Transport infrastructure is set to be a key focus at UKREiiF 2024 - the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum.

The event, taking place in Leeds in May 2024, will span three days and is expected to draw nearly 12,000 attendees, including international delegates.

The event's theme, The Next 5 Years, aligns with a potentially transformational period for infrastructure in the next political term.

This increased emphasis on transport reflects the sector's growing importance in the UK's development agenda.

The event will offer a platform for UK cities and regions to discuss opportunities across various sectors, with transport infrastructure being a major point of interest.

This will be alongside other key sectors like housing, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, technology, healthcare, energy, retail and high streets, leisure and hospitality, and industrial.

Key discussions will include insights from the Second National Infrastructure Assessment by the National Infrastructure Commission.

Deputy chair Julia Prescot and commissioners Sadie Morgan and Kate Willard will address the urgent needs and preparations for a net zero future.

Sectors within transport, such as aviation and ports, will have an increased presence.

Sponsors like London Gatwick Airport and Associated British Ports will host dedicated activities focusing on the opportunities around their sites to drive economic growth.

Early announced speakers include representatives from the East Midlands Freeport, Cornwall Newquay Airport, Birmingham Airport, Blackpool Airport and Leeds Bradford Airport.

The event will provide a crucial opportunity for stakeholders in the transport sector to engage with a wide audience, discussing the pivotal role of transport infrastructure in shaping the future economic and environmental landscape of the UK.

Launched in 2022 the event is held over three days and brings together the public and private sector, with all of the UK’s cities and regions represented alongside UK Government and the numerous governmental departments.

More than 700 speakers will be involved across 30-stages with major speakers from local authorities, developers and investors in addition to end users like Warner Bros, Essar and Toyota.

Having grown from 3,500 attendees in 2022 to 7,500 in 2023, the event in 2024 is set to attract over 12,000 to Leeds.

In addition to 12,000 attendees the event is set to attract a further 3,000 people to the city to enjoy the fringe events across the city – with £20m set to be generated for the local Leeds community.

The event generated £2.25m in social impact in 2023 for the local economy.

During UKREiiF international and domestics investors, developers and occupiers will be invited to meet and greet UK cities and regions to understand their requirements and see if there are any natural collaborations and partnerships that can be brought forward.

This provides a huge opportunity for the transport sector to directly meet local authorities and development partners to highlight potential growth and expansion sites.
